Grand Master K a DJ, producer, and the driving force behind independent label Mazarin Engineering. His sound fuses digital and analog influences, creating a unique take on dance music that explores its healing power. With collaborations alongside Mthunzi, Given Zulu, KeyB Sax, and more, Grand Master K is now set to unleash his debut EP, “Enter The Dragon.” This two-part project, launching November 2024, is a sonic documentary of his life in music.
Music ignited my soul at sixteen. Even then, I knew I wanted to be a musician, though the path wasn’t easy. As a young black man, societal expectations pushed for a “traditional” career. But the pull of music was undeniable. I started as a DJ, a path that felt more acceptable, and it filled my life with incredible experiences.
In my thirties, I formed the Solar Life Elements Band, a vibrant collective of DJ, saxophonist, percussionist, and vocalist. We poured our hearts into the music until life’s demands led me to step away, focusing on a corporate career. Yet, something was missing. A void that wouldn’t fade. Then, a close friend’s encouragement reignited the flame. I returned to music, and everything changed. This was my true calling.
2024 brought the opportunity to create “Enter The Dragon,” my debut EP. This project is a testament to music’s healing power – a power I call “Dragon Music.” It’s music that mends, music that allows us to simply be, music that brings peace.
